I'm recently new to this game (Jan 2019) and I see there is very little activity on these boards recently but I'm hopeful that there is still someone around that can answer some questions.
My first question being about the amount of agressive MOBs in survival mode on the iPhone version. I find that anytime I go out, regardless of whether it's during the day or at night, that there are an overwhelming number of agressive MOBs, and nearly zero passive ones (except those bleeping cats), is this by design or a deturrant to keep people from playing? This is meant as a secious question given the inactivity of the boards and resources available online. I actually had one detonate a bomb next to my cobblestone house two days ago during the day to get in and attack me. It was either a zombie or a skeleton guy, not sure which, but I was standing inside and then suddenly the screen shook and i was in a hole getting attacked. After I killed the guy I realized that part of my wall was gone and a large hole was in the place where my floor once was.
So again, my question is whether or not the ratio of aggressive vs. non-aggressive MOBs is by design or am I missing something here?
Thanks
Yeah, forums are very inactive, I'm pretty much the only one still even checks up on the place consistently. As for the mob spawning, it used to be flawed differently with animals being rare, wolves and spiders being the rarest mob spawns, and hostile mobs common, but at least animals are more common since early 2015, though now there's an overload on the wolf and spider spawns. Also I find that mobs in general spawn underground much less. As for your house exploding, that's either the creepers or ghasts that we're added in the newest update, creepers in WoC(this game) have the same code and AI as the ones in Solverlab's other game, Planet of Cubes/PlanetCraft, where they have a bug of blowing up through walls even if the player's not in it's line of sight and many blocks away.
The spawnrates are indeed flawed though it's unknown whether or not it's intentional.
It's too bad, it seems to be a pretty fun game but it seems nearly impossible to play in normal mode with the amount of Mobs around. Certainly can't venture far from home. I've resorted to builing underground tunnels just to explore the area around me.
Yeah, I used to love this game until V2.5 back in 2016, where WoC went downhill and Solverlabs pretty much abandoned it for PoC.
Only 2-3 feature updates happened from that time in 2016 to 2019, and not that much updates for the other stuff(bug fixes, optimization updates) either during the three years.
However there is a much more active forum for Planet of Cubes; poc.solverlabs.com/forums though like here, the admins pretty much abandoned it, so it's a little anarchy-like and a hint of a toxic community, but at least the forum mechanics are more upgraded, and there's actually people there almost every day.
As for WoC, World of Cubes was a lot more chill last update, as prior to the newest update, the only unfriendly mobs were zombies, pumpkinheads, spiders, and wolves, though this update added everything else.
Watch out for creepers and ghasts as you're tunneling near-surface though, as they have the ability to explode blocks.
