What is the purpose of being able to wear pumpkins on your head? Can you fool pumpkinheads into not attacking you when you wear one?

I heard if you wear a pumpkin,iron chestplate,iron leggings,and iron boots,then pumpkin heads will turn neutral,until you take of just 1 peice of the "clothing" of. If that's not a feature yet,then can it?
